Mackeyville, PA – Clinton County Raceway lived up to the billing of Summer Sizzle Friday night as the thermometer pegged in the hot July sun. Twenty-seven Shore Auto Parts Sprints checked in for the extra distance race including racing legend Smokey Snellbaker. Chuck Roan and Matt Miller found themselves on the front row for the initial green but it didn’t take long for the yellow to fly. Matt Heimbach just can’t seem to get the monkey off his back as a broken driveline ended his night just beyond the flag stand. During the jam up Jeff Busby ended up in the infield with front-end damage. The field reloaded and ran the next twelve laps off quickly until Jeff Taylor spun with a flat left rear. His team was quick to change it and he rejoined the field but it wasn’t long before Taylor found trouble again. Two laps after the restart Taylor wheel hopped another car and started to barrel roll down the backstretch. Taylor would escape injury but obviously need a tow to the pits. On the restart Matt Miller would stretch out his lead as Neil Petock, George Suprick, and Bobby Howard all tried to run him down. Miller would survive two more restarts and ran away with the win in convincing fashion. Petock would end up second, with Suprick continuing his hot streak for third, Bobby Howard fourth, and Scott Lutz fifth. Daryl Stimeling grabbed sixth, Bill Jones Jr seventh, Scott Flammer eighth, Tom Wise closed out a nice run from nineteenth for ninth, and Matt Johnson tenth.
The A & A Auto Parts Pro Stocks put on another good showing in their feature event. Ay Schilling went from the hook last week to victory lane this week as he took advantage of his front row starting spot. John Myers and John Bouse battled hard but couldn’t get any closer than Schillings back bumper and would have to settle for second and third respectively. Jim Berry had a solid run for fourth and Keith Tebbs came home fifth. Terry Shedden came from his fifteenth starting spot to sixth, Rich Fye came from fourteenth for seventh, Scott Dorman eighth, Chris Berry ninth, and Keith VanAmburg tenth.
Ron Enders and Son’s 270 micros ripped their feature of in quick pace as only two mechanical failures slowed the event. The first was at the halfway point when John Roberts machine stalled on the backstretch. The other was for Brian Kishbaugh as his ride stalled on the front stretch. That worked out well for Scott Kishbaugh as he grabbed the lead and sailed away for the victory. Justin Jordan had a nice run for second, Derek Johnson finished third, Jim Welshans fourth, and JR Null was fifth. Bill Frederick came across the line sixth, Brian Wegener seventh, Greg Steward eighth, Sierra Weaver ninth, and Matt Carter tenth.
Randy’s Auto Repair 4-cylinders packed the track once again for their main event as they put on a fantastic race right down to the wire. Josh Fetters pulled out to the lead and cruised to the victory but the battle for second through eighth was side by side the whole distance. Jason Rafter would end up second, with Colton Hoover having a nice run for third, Jason McCauley fourth, and Doug Darby fifth. Heather Marr brought her new ride home in sixth, James Frye Jr steamed across the line for seventh, Sterling Kepner eighth, Chris Snyder ninth, and Tom Quiggle rounding out the top ten.
